Design Pickle

The signage in the London Underground is a classic design example of the trendy era. Although he lacked inventive coaching, Frank Pick led the Underground Group design and publicity motion. The first Underground station signs were introduced in 1908 with a design of a strong purple disk with a blue bar within the middle and the name of the station. It was in 1916 when Pick used the experience of Edward Johnston to design a brand new typeface for the Underground. Johnston redesigned the Underground sign and emblem to include his typeface on the blue bar within the heart of a red circle.
