Counter-Strike 2 Update Adds 3v3 Rush Mode

Valve has released a major update for Counter-Strike 2, introducing Rush, a new 3v3 game mode. The update also revamps Premier map selection, adds silent reloading, and fixes several bugs.

Rush Mode: Fast-Paced 3v3 Action

Rush is a queued mode that uses a tug-of-war scoring system across 15 maps. Each match starts on a neutral map, with seven maps played in total. Teams compete to capture the central tower, pushing it toward the opponent’s spawn with each round win.

A match can end in as few as four rounds or extend to 15 rounds if evenly contested. Players can track their progress on a friends leaderboard, adding a competitive edge to the mode.

Premier Map Picks Overhauled

The Premier map selection process has shifted from a ban-based system to a pick-based system. Teams now choose maps directly, with one of the selected maps randomly chosen for the match. This change aims to reward map-specific expertise rather than allowing teams to ban opponents’ strongest picks.

The new system resembles the “Randomizer Map 3” style used in the ESL One Cologne 2014 Major. It’s expected to increase map variety in casual games, reducing the dominance of Mirage and Dust2.

Crosshair and Gameplay Updates

Crosshairs are now resolution-independent, with a dedicated Crosshair/Scopes tab in the settings menu. The default crosshair has changed to “Dynamic Quad” in white, which better reflects weapon accuracy.

Gameplay changes include silent reloading, which takes longer than a standard reload, and silent disengagement of the AWP sniper rifle. Visual clarity for blood and bullet impact decals has been improved, and the Zeus x27 can now damage chickens.

Server administrators can limit the number of grenades players can buy using the ammo_grenade_limit_total command. Clan Tags have returned, and players can now apply stickers directly to C4.

Additional Features and Fixes

The update includes a Music Kit featuring artist Starjunk95, available in standard and StatTrak versions. Valve has also patched a loophole that allowed players to dodge kick bans and added the ability to set music volume separately for each game mode.

The update is now live in Counter-Strike 2, with Rush mode, the new Premier pick system, crosshair changes, and gameplay adjustments available to all players. Valve has not yet decided whether the new Premier pick system will be used in the PGL Singapore Major later this year.
